• Do you receive a Scholarship?

  • Utwente Scholarship: UTS/HS & OTS

    UTS/HS or OTS Scholarship students will receive the Scholarship fees on their own bank account. Therefore keep in mind that youare always responsible for the payment of the tuition fees yourself. The scholarship will not and cannot be used for the direct payment of the tuition fees.

    This means you need to arrange the payment via Studielink as the normal payment procedure, option 1 to 3 on this webpage. When you choose to pay in instalments, you need to arrange the digital authorization as soon as you have arrived in the Netherlands and have opened up a Dutch bank account.
    When you have already paid part of the fees in advance, during the visa process, this part will be deducted and the remaining part still needs to be paid as the normal procedure.

    Please note that if you wish to pay in instalments, you can already arrange the digital authorization before receiving the first scholarship instalment as the UT will debit the first tuition fee instalmentafter you have received your first scholarship payment.

    Example:
    - Your tuition fee is 16.000 EUR
    - Your UTS scholarship is 12.000, so you have uploaded the scholarship letter during the visa process.
    - You have only paid for the remaining amount, which is not covered by the scholarship, during the visa process. This is 4.000 EUR
    - To get enrolled you need to arrange the payment of the other 12.000 EUR, which is covered by your scholarship and which you haven't paid during the visa process
    - Once you'll arrive in the Netherlands you will open up a Dutch bank account via a group appointment through visa
    - After opening up a bank account you can directly arrange the digital authorization in 5 instalments via Studielink. The unpaid 12.000 EUR will be devided over 5 instalments.
    - You inform Scholarship Office about the bank account number
    - The first scholarship payment will be transferred into your account as soon as they have received your bank account number. In other payment months this will happen at the beginning of the month.
    - The tuition fee instalment will be withdrawn from your account by the end of the month.

  • External Scholarship

    If the UT does not have a contract with the scholarship provider, you are always responsible fortimely payment of the tuition fee yourself.

    If the UT has a contract with the scholarship provider we will arrange the payment with the scholarship provider and we will finalize your enrolment.

    If you are in doubt whether or not the UT has a contract with a scholarship provider, please contact us or arrange the payment yourself. If it turns out there is a contract, while you have arranged the payment method yourself, we will change it.

In Studielink you can choose a method of payment by ‘Other Method of Payment’. If you have chosen a single transfer you have to transfer the complete amount at once to the University of Twente, stating your name, date of birth and student number.The complete amount has to be transferred to IBAN NL33ABNA0405323972 before 31 January 2023. Please take a processing time of two weeks into account.In case of an international transfer, you need to mention the BIC-code: ABNANL2A.

• Changing digital authorisation

• Conditions for payment by SEPA authorisation

  1. You need to have a European IBAN and your bank is connected to SEPA. Others can also give authorisation for their account. If someone else is going to pay for you, he also should have European IBAN connected to SEPA.
  2. By signing the authorisation you authorise the University of Twente, incassant ID NL39ZZZ501305360000, to debit the tuition fee from your bank account.
  3. The accountcannot be dissolvedbefore the final instalment has been paid and a possible lack of funds has been resolved.
  4. When you do not agree with the debiting of the account, you can refund the amount within 8 weeks. You have to contact your bank about this. Your bank can inform you about the conditions. The outstanding amount does not expire by doing this. If you do not agree with the debiting, please contact CSA.
  5. The accountholder has to take care that the account will have sufficient funds, so that the instalment(s) can be debited on the mentioned date(s).
  6. Alternative payment schedules will not be considered.
  7. When debiting the account in instalments the first instalment will be raised by € 24.00administration costs.
  8. A student who is de-enrolled due to not paying the tuition fee in the previous academic year can no longer use the direct debit payment method. This applies to subsequent academic years as well.

• Additional conditions for payment by paper authorisation

  1. You cannot take part in the payment in instalments if the form has not been filled out correctly and completely.
  2. By signing this authorisation form, you authorise:
     1. Universiteit Twente, incassant ID NL39ZZZ501305360000, to send single or recurrent collection instructions to your bank to debit your account and
     2. Your bank to debit your account on a single or recurrent basis in accordance with the instruction from the University of Twente.
  3. If there are changes in the conditions of the enrolment which influenced the amount of the tuition fees you agree with cashing the adjusted tuition fees by signing the authorisation form. The university is competent to debit the higher amount from your bank account. The university will send you an e-mail on time to warn you that the monthly amount of your tuition fee has been increased.

• Additional conditions for payment by (digital) authorisation:

  1. If somebody else will accept the digital authorisation (the account holder or his/her legal representative) than this person needs a DigiD.
  2. By signing this authorisation form, you authorise:
     1. Universiteit Twente, incassant ID NL39ZZZ501305360000, to send single or recurrent collection instructions to your bank to debit your account and
     2. Your bank to debit your account on a single or recurrent basis per the instruction from the University of Twente.

• For first-year bachelor's students

  Youare entitled to a one-year (12 consecutive months) halving of the statutory rate if you are:

  • a student who meets all of the conditions for the statutory fee
  • a student who starts at Dutch higher education for the first time in or after the 2018-2019 academic year
  • a student who is enrolled in a full-time or part-time bachelor’s programme (pre-master's excluded)

• In the second year of following teacher education

  Students who meet all of the following conditions are entitled to a two-year halving of the statutory rate if they are:

  • a student who meets all of the conditions for the statutory fee
  • a student who is entering Dutch higher education for the first time in or after the 2018-2019 academic year
  • a student enrolled for a teacher’s education.

  A student who attends a teacher’s education has the right to a maximum of a two-year halving of tuition fees.Thismeansthat when a student has a bachelor's degree in teacher’s education and has already been granted two years of halvingin tuition fees, the student is not entitled to another year of halvingthe tuition fees when attending a master's teacher’s education.

• Examples

  You are entitled to a 12-month (in the case of following a teacher education, 24 months)consecutivehalvingof the tuition fee. This means that when you quit your studies in the meantime there is a chance that when you resume the study or choose a new study, you have no right to continue the halvingof tuition fees. In the examples below you can see when you do have the right to a halvingof the tuition fee or when you lose your rights.

  • Example 1: You have had a previous registration at a HO institution

    • You have had a registration at a HO institution before the academic year of 2018 (for example, per September 2016)
    • This registration took up to a month, as you have de-enrolled yourself immediately
    • You do not have the right to a halvingof the tuition fees as you already had a registration with a HO institution before the academic year of 2018-2019

  • Example 2: Consecutive bachelor's education

    · You start per February with a bachelor's degree at an educational institution and will continue studying until September
    · Per September you switch to another study (continuous), possibly even to another educational institution and the study continues througout the rest of the year
    · You then have the right to 12 months halvingof tuition fees from February to January

  • Example 3: (Temporarily) quitting your bachelor's study

    · You start in September with a bachelor's degree at an educational institution
    · You quit your study within 3 months, as of 1 December, of the same academic year
    · You request for (re-)enrolment the following academic year, per September
    · You will be eligible for 3 months of the halvingof the tuition fee, from September to November. The remaining 9 consecutive months you do not follow a study and you therefore have not used your right to the halvingof tuition fees. You cannot take along these months to the new academic year, they will expire.

  • Example 4: Master's teacher education

    · You startwith a master's teacher education in September 2021-2022*
    · You willcontinue your study for until the end
    · You have the right to the halvingof tuition fees for 24 consecutive months

  • Example 5: Transition to teacher education

    • You start per September with a bachelor's programme and finish it after 3 years
    • After your bachelor you start with a Master in teacher education
    • You have 12 months right to the halvingof tuition fees during the bachelor's programme
    • When you start your Master teacher education you will be entitled to another 12 months of halvingof the tuition fees. In total you willthen be entitled to 24 months halvingof the tuition fees

  • Example 6: Teacher education in addition to other education

    • You start by September 2021-2022* with a master's teacher education and at the same time you follow another education
    • You have only 12 months right to the halvingof tuition fees, you thereby lose your right to the second year of the halvingof tuition fees

  • Example 7: Temporarily quitting your master's teacher education

    • You start in September 2021-2022 with a teacher education and quit your study on 1 February of the same academic year
    • In September of the next academic year you will continue your teacher education until you finish it
    • You are entitled to a total of 17 months of a halvingof tuition fees, namely from September to January of the first academic year and during the period from September to August in the second academic year. The 7 months from February to August in the first year,when you have not followed a study and you did not use the right of the halvingof tuition fees, youcannottake along to the nextacademic year

  *You are entitled to the second year of the halvingof the tuition fee when starting a master's teacher education per the academic year 2021-2022 as you are also only entitled to a halvingof tuition fee when starting the prior bachelor's study per the academic year of 2018-2019. Starting the master's earlier means you have started the bachelor's before the academic year of 2018-2019, which does not entitle you to any halving of tuition fee.
